What does the award mean in terms of healthcare

The award will further help us achieve our goal: bringing a better quality of life to patients through easy and safe drug delivery devices.

Skin is an exciting overlooked optimal injection site. Its rich immune network offers great benefits for therapeutic drug delivery, including cell-based and immunotherapies, as well as prophylactic vaccination. VAX-ID has a dose-sparing potential of up to 1/10th of the dose compared to other routes of administration like intramuscular and subcutaneous.

The device requires minimal training and is an affordable solution. It is easy to scale, making it accessible for healthcare professionals and vaccinees as well as for pandemic preparedness programs.

Vanessa Vankerckhoven, Founder & CEO, comments “We’re super proud and honoured to have won the prestigious Prix Galien, considered the Nobel prize in medical devices. VAX-ID can be a true game-changer in the field of drug delivery, for dealing with global vaccinations and health emergencies, as well serving therapeutic challenges.”

What does award mean to our team

We could not have done this without our amazing team. It’s been many years of hard work and perseverance to bring this vision to life. We could not be prouder of the entire group.

Koen Beyers, Founder and CTO “This recognition further highlights that a good design and a sustainable device architecture, while keeping patient care, usability, regulatory aspects and market needs as top priorities, really work.”
