May 18 marks HIV Vaccine Awareness Day

Idevax supports the HIV Vaccine Awareness Day this May 18 led by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. A day to thank all those working together to find a safe and effective preventive HIV vaccine.

HIV is an especially challenging virus. Decades of research and scientific advancements have helped in improving prevention and treatment of AIDS. Yet, a preventive HIV vaccine is lacking.

Despite several failures over the past 40 years, scientists remain optimistic in the search for a vaccine ending the global HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The intradermal route of administration offers some interesting benefits as well. The skin is rich in immune cells, like dendritic cells and Langerhans cells, allowing for improved immune responses. Furthermore, VAX-ID can support in making the vaccination reliable and easy.
