Meet our new R&D Intern – Morgane Thienpont
We’re excited to welcome Morgane Thienpont to our R&D team as our newest R&D Intern. We caught up with Morgane to learn more about her journey, what she’s currently studying, and what sparked her interest in R&D.
Read on to learn more about Morgane and her story here.
1) What are you currently studying and why did you choose this field?
I’m studying bioengineering and I’m currently doing a master’s in synthetic biotechnology. I chose this field because I wanted to do something in science, but I didn’t want to commit to one specific branch of it. Bioengineering covers a bit of everything, which gave me the chance to explore different areas before figuring out what I liked most.
2) What interests you most about science?
What interests me most in science is biology, and more specifically applications like genome editing, protein engineering and synthetic biology. But in general, I like how science can make a meaningful contribution to society.
3) What is your role at IDEVAX and what skills do you hope to acquire through this internship?
I’m an intern working on a project that investigates how intradermal injection using the VAX-ID device affects immune cells by studying the shear stress they experience during ejection.
Through this internship, I’m hoping to gain a deeper understanding of intradermal drug delivery technologies and how they influence biological responses. I also want to get a clearer picture of what a career in biotech looks like while improving my ability to analyze experimental results and troubleshoot when experiments don’t go as expected.
