Inside IDEVAX: Two Interns, Two Perspectives – Part 2

We spoke with Elena Garcia and Stanley Degraef, our R&D interns, about their experiences at IDEVAX. Both interns had the opportunity to work on hands-on projects while discovering more about life and collaboration in a MedTech environment.

We asked them about their projects, the insights they gained during their time at IDEVAX, and what they’re taking with them into their studies and future careers.

What was the focus of your project?

Elena Garcia – R&D Intern

“The focus of my project was to design a robotic system capable of handling vials and mixing the content, a proof of concept for a future vaccine preparation robot.”

Stanley Degraef – R&D Intern

“During my internship, my primary focus was the exploration and development of new VAX-ID variations. Alongside my core project, I frequently collaborated with colleagues by providing design and CAD support to help advance their projects.”

What are some of the insights you gained about MedTech and working in a science company during your internship?

Elena Garcia – R&D Intern

“I learned how is like to go deeper in applying engineering on the medical world specially when it comes to mechanism design and programation.”

Stanley Degraef – R&D Intern

“One of the main insights I gained during my internship is how collaborative working in a science and MedTech company can be. Everyone is very knowledgeable in their own field and is happy to share their expertise, which I really appreciated.

Even though we are not all working on the same projects, cooperation is still at the core of Idevax. Ideas are openly exchanged, feedback is welcomed and taken seriously, and people are willing to learn from each other.”

What’s next for you? What learnings are you taking with you into your studies and future career?

Elena Garcia – R&D Intern

“Thanks to this internship I realized I want to focus on working in a medical or pharmaceutical environment. I learnt how to work independently and to apply my knowledge in a real project.”

Stanley Degraef – R&D Intern

“Coming academic year, I’ll be finishing my master’s degree and working on my master’s thesis, which will be in cooperation with Idevax.”

A look back at their time at IDEVAX

Both internships offered a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, apply academic knowledge to real-world projects and learn from the expertise of colleagues across IDEVAX. We’re grateful to Elena and Stanley for their contributions and wish them all the best as they continue their studies and careers.
