Meet our new Marketing intern – Maria Vega

We’re excited to welcome Maria Vega to our Marketing team as our newest Marketing Intern. We caught up with Maria to learn more about her journey, what she’s currently studying, and what sparked her interest in science. Read on to learn more about Maria and her story here.

1. What are you currently studying and why did you choose this field?

I am currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering Technology at KU Leuven. Even though I was never a fan of chemistry growing up, I knew I wanted to acquire knowledge that could contribute to the shaping of a better future. I’ve always been interested in sustainability, materials science, biology and medicine. Taking all of this into account, I figured that Chemical Engineering would provide me with the tools to be able to work in those interests while contributing to meaningful solutions. Now that I’m on track to finishing my degree, not only do I feel more prepared, but I ended up liking chemistry after all!

2. What interests you most about science?

What interests me the most about science is the many ways one principle can be applied to several life-changing technologies and ideas. The Bernoulli principle, for example, helps us to understand and build the foundations for solutions in many different fields, from urban planning and piping systems to the behavior and effect of a vaccine on the body depending on its viscosity and fluid motion. It fascinates me that knowledge in science, combined with creativity and teamwork, can lead to infinitely many innovations that improve people’s quality of life and drive progress and evolution.

3. What is your role at IDEVAX and what skills do you hope to acquire through this internship?

I will joined the IDEVAX Sales & Marketing team, where I will develop customer-oriented promotion strategies and contribute to the exposure of the many applications of the VAX-ID in dermatology. During this internship, I hope to have access to the extensive knowledge of the company on skin behavior and drug delivery methods, as well as refining my scientific communication skills to the general public.; I believe that communicating complex science in a clear and accessible way is essential for innovative technologies like VAX-ID to be understood, appreciated, and adopted by wider audiences.
