What are you currently studying and why did you choose this field?
Stanley: I’m a product development student with a long-standing passion for creating, making and designing. From a young age, I’ve been driven by the process of turning ideas into tangible outcomes. I’ve explored this passion through hands-on making, particularly with 3D printing, where I enjoy bringing concepts to life through iterative prototyping and experimentation.
Elena: I’m a Mechanical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Electromechanics. I chose this field because I believe it is possible to improve people’s lives and health with the help of technology.
What interests you most about science?
Stanley: In high school, I dabbled in both empirical and human sciences which showed me the value of combining technical understanding with insights into human behaviour. This combination continues to shape how I approach problems and design solutions.
Elena: What interests me most about science is its applicability to almost every aspect of life. As humans, it is our duty to apply science to develop a better life and environment.
What is your role at IDEVAX and what skills do you hope to acquire through this internship?
Stanley: I am currently an intern on the R&D team at IDEVAX, where I am working on VAX-ID. Through this internship, I hope to gain a better understanding of what it is like to work in a professional environment, particularly within a research and development setting. I am also looking to develop my problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills, while learning how theoretical knowledge is applied to real-world projects.
Elena: At IDEVAX, I work as a mechanical designer for the Robyn robot. Through this internship, I hope to improve my CAD design skills and gain experience in robot implementation.
